Chiquita knew since the age of 3 that she wanted the life of a performer. She started dancing at the age of 4 & for 15 years danced to the beat of Tap, Hip-Hop, Modern Dance, Ballet, Pointe & Jazz. Her dancing skills went perfectly with her commitment to acting which she started pursuing by the age of 10. Her childhood passions were pivotal in Chiquita’s decision to get a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Acting from the University of Virginia. There, Chiquita had the fortune of not only polishing her talents further but also of showcasing them in prestigious theaters where she played leading roles such as the Mother in “Blood Wedding”, Vera in August Wilson’s “Seven Guitars”, Elmire in “Tartuffe”, & Taylor in “Stick Fly”.
Chiquita’s depth in her roles comes not only from her acting talent but also from her involvement in important areas of our society, such as Politics. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Georgia where she also got another Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish. Chiquita took her Spanish abilities further by obtaining a graduate certificate in Spanish Interpretation from UCLA in California. Not only did this make her knowledgeable in political matters, but it also gave her a broader perspective of our nation’s diversity in languages and accents which has served her wonderfully in the credibility she brings to the characters she portrays.
Chiquita has also put her acting education & experience to the service of a top medical school in California where she trains actors and future doctors to communicate effectively. This has given her the opportunity to use her acting abilities in multiple case scenarios. Chiquita has also played diverse roles in independent films, has been an on-air announcer for WPVC 94.7 in Charlottesville, Virginia, & is also the host of podcasts that she has also written and produced.
